It was an uncomfortable experience for him. Mainly because he was use to things being more cut and dry. You either liked someone or you did not. At that moment he was not sure if he liked her or not. More importantly he was not sure how to even go about things with her. If he should just go along with what she suggested or not. What if he did like her? What if he did not? He had just met her and maybe he did not know that much about her, but Lucas felt like he had to in order to figure things out.
"You're welcome... I guess." Although he did not know how to interpret why exactly she was thanking him for it in the first place. The fact that she said that it did not mean anything made him feel strange. Maybe being with Nicki that one night had not meant anything to him, but that was then. Right then the thought that they had just had something that meant nothing did not sound right to him. "It didn't mean anything?" Lucas was confused and puzzled as to if it did mean something.
Students had started to walk into the gym changed and ready for class. That was when Lucas noticed what time it was getting to be. He reached into his pocket and grabbed out a pen and a paper. Luke scribbled down his name and cell number and went to hand it to her. "I know I can be a jerk, but I have a decent record at being a good friend. Or as some might tell you I haven't always been such a jerk." He smiled at her hoping that perhaps she would understand what he was trying to tell her.

Lucas seemed to be more confused than she was and she didn't think that it was even possible. It was like he never had been kissed before and she wondered if that was the case. No, he knew what he was doing when he kissed her and he did tell her about his make out sessions with the other girl. The girl that he knew or whatever.
She watched as the students walked into the gym and she realized that it was time for class. Usually she skipped classes but detention was starting to feel like a second home for her. Lucas then gave her a piece of paper with his number on it and said some things that made her raise her eyebrows. His last name was Scott and it sounded very familiar to her, but she didn't know why. She figured that she could always google him.
Rebecca took the piece of paper and put it down in her purse. It wouldn't be nice of her to throw it away right away, so she decided to keep it. But it wasn't like she planned on calling. "It was nice meeting you Lucas Scott. And about the kiss, it didn't mean anything it was just a kiss. We don't know each other and you are not my type. Don't overthink it," she told him with a smirk.

"And it was interesting meeting you Rebecca." Indeed it had been interesting trying to figure out her and whatever they were. "I'll try not to over think it. In return I think you should at least hold onto that number until let's just say next basketball season," Luke told her with a smirk on his face. Lucas figured at least that way she would not regret whatever she did with his number. Although he hoped she would keep it on her in case of an emergency. "Oh, and I'm under the impression that my best friend thought that I made a rather decent fake boyfriend our freshmen year. You know just in case you would ever need one." He laughed a little as he thought about Haley and how she felt she needed to have a fake boyfriend to keep the wrong kind of guys away. It brought a genuine smile to his face thinking back to the good memories he had of the place he still thought of as home.
Luke then looked at Rebecca and with the smile still on his face. "Take care." He wanted to say more, but more people were starting to gather around the bleachers and he knew she had to leave soon. Just the same he had a feeling that maybe at some point they would be friends or at the very least allies. "You better get going, you wouldn't want to be late for class." It was more of suggestion than a command. Or at least that was how he hoped she would take it. Luke knew better than to add much more on that specific note because as Haley had brought to his attention at least once people somethings thought he was a little odd or strange due to some of his interests.

Rebecca thought about what he told her and the idea of him being her fake boyfriend really caught her attention. It didn't seem like a bad idea and it would definitely make her noticed especially now that it was clear that Lucas played basketball. Their fake relationship would give her so much spotlight and she could almost imagine the look on her sister's face. The new guy was older than Rebecca so that just made it better.
She still thought that he wasn't her type but they could help each other in the future and Rebecca didn't want to forget that. With that in mind she stood up and turned to him. "I'll call you," she told with a smirk and let her fingers play with her dark brown locks. Rebecca started to walk away but stopped to say something to Lucas. She turned around and gave him a smile "Oh I forgot to welcome you. Welcome to Branson."

Luke figured that he must of said something that she had liked the sound of when Rebecca told him that she would call him later. She smirked at him while saying it and had been playing with her hair. It was like if he had said some magic word and all of a sudden she kind of liked him in whatever way she did like him. At least they were not fighting against each other anymore. Although he was curious as to what she had in mind for their future encounters. Maybe it was better not to know before hand. Just the same he was just starting to take her possible age into account. He still did not know how old she was or what grade she was in, but something told him that she was younger by at least a grade.
When she turned around after starting to walk away the way she welcomed him caught him a little off guard. Mainly because he actually seemed sincere. "Thank you," he responded with quickly. They did not have much time left before the bells would start sounding. "I hope to see you around." Lucas could sense that people were no longer hiding the fact that they were watching them. He even saw some of the others that like Rebecca had to leave to go to another class texting to their heart's delight. Most likely about what was going on with him and Rebecca. Luke figured that he would probably just have to try to get use to that.

Rebecca started to walk away from the school gym and she couldn't help but notice the other students looking at her and whispering. It made her smile because it seemed like her little conversation with Lucas got everyone gossiping and so did their kiss. This Lucas guy had helped her out in so many ways. He got everyone to talk about her and their kiss was the most talked topic.
Her group of army started to ask her all kind of questions on their way to class and this time she didn't have to make anything up or do any pretending. She told them what happened and it was real. Of course she didn't mention all of it. But she did mention the kiss and him giving her his number. The day was going to be such much fun and it had only just started. Ah, some days were just perfect. And Rebecca had a certain Lucas Scott to thank for it.

After Rebecca left the gym the chatter picked up considerably. Some guy that he did not know came over to him and wished him good luck and congratulations. Other guys nearby made some rude comments about how he would need all the luck he could get. Lucas did not know much about Rebecca, but he did know that eventually he would find out more about her. The warning bell soon sounded and students that were there for the class gathered around the bleachers. Students that had other classes to attend quickly made their way to the doors.
Life for the time being seemed to be returning to some sort of normalcy. Moments passed until the final bell rang and the teacher got up to address that day's activities. A number of the girls in the class groaned as they were informed they would have to participate. It was kind of entertaining but annoying all at the same time. Luke really wanted to be able to participate and could not, but some of those that could were complaining. In his mind it seemed unfair. As the teacher forced them to go about the activity Lucas watched on, waiting for the day that he would be able to participate again.
